Jericho Road Board MembersPhilip vanderWilden, Board President Philip has been the Co-Chair of the JRP Board since its formation and an active member of First Parish since 1998. Philip is the Executive Director of the Crawford Idema Family Foundation, a charitable organization that focuses on enhancing opportunities for low-income and minority populations through its grant making. Prior to working with the Foundation, Philip worked for ten years as a project manager with the U.S. Department of Transportation in Boston and as a management consultant with Arthur Young and Arroyo Seco Associates in Los Angeles. The majority of that work was with public sector and non-profit agencies with a focus on organizational efficiency and effectiveness, program development, and strategic planning. John G. Conley, Treasurer John G. Conley is a partner at JSB Partners, a small investment bank
servicing the life sciences industry with offices in Boston (Concord)
and Munich, Germany. Most recently he was Vice President of Business Development
at Transkaryotic Therapies through its acquisition by Shire Pharmaceuticals.
He was a co-founder of the RNA interference therapeutics company Alnylam
Pharmaceuticals and held the position of Vice President, Strategy and
Finance and CFO through to its successful 2004 IPO. Over ten years at
Biogen Inc. (now Biogen-IDEC) he served in several marketing, business
development, sales and finance positions, including Country Manager -
United Kingdom and Ireland, and Treasurer. He was a Manager at the strategy
consulting firm of Bain & Company. He is a member of the Board of
Directors for the YMCA of Greater Boston and the Board of Overseers of
the Danforth Museum. John has a BS in Economics from the University of
Pennsylvania's Wharton School and an MBA from the Yale School Eric Van Loon, Secretary A lawyer by training, Eric is a founding member of JAMS, the largest US dispute resolution company. He mediates and arbitrates complex, multiparty, high-stakes disputes, including business, governmental, environmental, tribal, and intellectual property. Previously he was a litigator, national nonprofit organization head, and government official (Mass Assistant Secretary of Environmental Affairs and Undersecretary of Economic Affairs). With degrees from Harvard Law School, London School of Economics, and University of North Carolina, he has taught courses at Harvard and Boston University and served on the boards of the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, Appleseed Foundation, and Greeley Foundation. A First Parish UU member since 1989, he chaired its governing board and co-chairs its Social Action Committee. He is a founding member of the Jericho Road Project. Chris Bade Chris Bade is currently Senior Vice President of Operations in the Sensors and Simulation Group at L-3 Communications Corp. He has P/L responsibility for four high technology divisions serving a wide range of industries. He is also responsible for contributing to the pipeline of acquisitions for the corporation. Prior to this he was president of the L-3 Communications Infrared Products division. Chris was a corporate vice president at Raytheon and was a director on the corporate staff at Textron after serving 7 years as a Marine Corps officer and aviator and 6 years at a general management consultant for Arthur D. Little, Inc. and A.T. Kearney/EDS. John Boynton John Boynton is President of Firehouse Capital, Inc., a privately held investment company that makes entrepreneurial investments in early stage technology companies, real estate, and other interesting opportunities. Prior to launching Firehouse Capital, he founded Wilson Alan LLC (creator of customized executive development programs), ran corporate strategy, marketing, and business development for Forrester Research, Inc. (technology research company), and worked as a consultant for Mercer (global strategy consulting firm). Earlier in his career, John co-founded and served as President of CompTek International, the leading distributor of Cisco networking and communications technologies in Russia. Today he serves on the boards of Yandex, Infinet Wireless, and CTI, three technology companies that grew out of CompTek. John earned an A.B. in History from Harvard College. M. Patricia Crane M. Patricia Crane is a senior independent consultant who most recently
spent 13 years at Lowell General Hospital in various roles, including
Special Assistant to the President, Vice President of Development and
Public Affairs, and as Vice President for Administrative and External
Affairs. Previously, she was Director of Public Affairs for Saints Memorial
Medical Center, Lowell, Mass. from 1992 to 1993, and Director of Public
Affairs and Development for Saint Joseph's Hospital, Lowell, Mass. from
1990 to 1992. From 1987 to 1990, Pat was Assistant Director of the Lowell
Plan, Inc., and also served as Program Director for the Lowell Development
and Financial Corporation's First Mortgage Loan Pool from 1990 to 1992.
She was Director of Public Relations and Development at the Academy of
Notre Dame, Tyngsboro, Mass., from 1979 to 1987. Pat received her Master of Public Administration Degree with concentration in Health Administration from Suffolk University, Boston, and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from D'Youville College, Buffalo, New York. She is a member of the Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society. She is a member of the National Society for Fund-Raising Executives, the New England Association for Healthcare Marketing Philanthropy, the Academy for Healthcare Services Marketing, the New England Healthcare Public Relations Association, and the Planned Giving Group of New England. Christine Dunlap Christine Dunlap is Executive Director of the Broadcast and Student Media Center at UMass Lowell. She is responsible for the management and development of WUML, the campus radio station, as well as the development of print, broadcast, and new media learning experiences for students. She is also executive producer of "Sunrise", a morning drive-time public affairs program that airs weekdays on WUML. From 1994 until 2005, Christine served as executive director of Communications and Marketing at the university. Before joining UMass Lowell, she was a newspaper reporter and columnist at the Lowell Sun and the Boston Globe. She is a trustee of the Pollard Memorial Library in Lowell and sits on the boards of the Lowell Telecommunications Corporation and the Pollard Foundation. She is also a regular panelist on "In Focus," a public affairs interview program that airs on LTC. She holds an undergraduate degree in English from Boston State College and a master's degree in public affairs from UMass Boston. Fran Grigsby Frances Grigsby is Founder and Managing Principal of Next Level International,
a consulting firm that helps technology companies enter new markets. Next
Level specializes in business development, M&A preparation and strategy.
Before founding Next Level, Fran was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating
Officer for GigaNet, a successful startup acquired by Emulex. She joined
GigaNet as its fourth employee and helped deliver its first round of venture
financing, corporate alliances and company launch. At Motorola, Fran was
Vice President of Enterprise Networks, responsible for its switching and
networking businesses. Earlier she held executive positions at Digital
Equipment Corporation, including founding its wireless and cable modem
businesses and expanding its industry-leading communications server business.
She held senior positions in storage systems, field support and corporate
logistics. Fran holds MBA and BA degrees from Vanderbilt University, and
received an Executive Certificate at INSEAD Graduate School of Management,
Fontainebleau, France. She serves on the Boards of the Massachusetts Network
Communication Council, British American Business Council, United Cerebral
Palsy. Jennifer Hurley-Wales Jennifer Hurley-Wales is a co-founder of From the Top, Inc. a non-profit organization that encourages and celebrates the commitment of young people to music and the arts. Through radio, television, web, and in school programming, From the Top provides a platform for young artists to present themselves, share their passion, and develop into important cultural leaders. In their 9th year of operations, Hurley-Wales serves as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Producer. She spent 17 years in arts management prior to the founding of From the Top. In her decade at the New England Conservatory of Music, Hurley-Wales was a senior development officer for the Capital Campaign, and subsequently served as the interim Director of External Affairs and Special Projects Director, identifying collaborations and strategic partnerships for the Conservatory. Hurley-Wales holds a B.A. from Denison University and lives in Concord, MA with her husband and daughter. CC King CC King is a visual artist, group facilitator and teacher. As a co-founder of the Musketaquid Earth Day celebration and Environmental Arts Program in Concord Massachusetts, she offers workshops in organic sculpture and organizes public performances. CC leads Interplay, an improvisation practice, and coordinates workshops and trainings in the New England area. Her professional background includes art and family therapy, fine arts, and nonprofit management. CC is the former Program Director of the Greeley Foundation. A graduate of Syracuse University, she holds a master's degree from Lesley College in Expressive Therapies. Andy Macey Andy Macey is currently VP of Sales, Services and Client Solutions for OAT Systems, a company specializing in framework software for radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology. Prior to joining OATSystems, Andy was at Sapient Corporation, where he served as Vice President for Retail & Consumer Products, as well as global lead for the Supply Chain and Business Consulting practices. Andy also previously served on the leadership team for the North American FinACE (Financial Services, Automotive, Industrial, Consumer & Retail, and Energy) business unit. Prior to Sapient, Andy served as Vice President and Managing Director, Europe, for software company Formation Systems, where he and his team sold and delivered global PLM solutions. Andy began his career as a consultant with Bain & Company.
