Andy Macey, Board President and Treasurer

Andrew currently serves as VP at Sapient where he is responsible for digital and ecommerce strategy. Prior to Sapient, Andrew served as COO of product design and innovation firm HLB; as VP sales and services for RFID software company OATSystems (an outgrowth of the MIT Auto ID Center); as MD Europe for Formation Systems, the first enterprise software for formulation and recipe management; and as SVP operations for American White Cross, where he and his team helped triple the company to just under $100MM in approximately four years.

Andrew originally began his career as a consultant at Bain & Company, where he led US and European teams engaged in go-to-market strategies, operational improvement, M&A, and corporate strategy for several Fortune 100 companies. Andrew also serves on the board of the MIT Enterprise Forum, the global technology community of 80,000 constituents in 26 international chapters.

Andrew received his AB from Harvard College and his MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business.


Sven T. Olson, Treasurer

Sven is a real estate entrepreneur and Senior Loan Officer with JP Morgan Chase. He has spent over 20 years in the real estate industry, specializing in residential real estate. His background also includes work in technology, as a Quality Assurance Engineer for firms from internet start-ups such as MotherNature.com to JP Morgan Chase's former on-line brokerage unit, Brown & Co. Mr. Olson graduated with a BS in Accounting from Northeastern University. He resides in Concord with his wife and five children.


Chris Bade

Chris Bade is currently Senior Vice President of Operations in the Sensors and Simulation Group at L-3 Communications Corp. He has P/L responsibility for four high technology divisions serving a wide range of industries. He is also responsible for contributing to the pipeline of acquisitions for the corporation. Prior to this he was president of the L-3 Communications Infrared Products division. Chris was a corporate vice president at Raytheon and was a director on the corporate staff at Textron after serving 7 years as a Marine Corps officer and aviator and 6 years at a general management consultant for Arthur D. Little, Inc. and A.T. Kearney/EDS.


Dorothy Chen-Courtin

Dorothy Chen-Courtin is the founder and President of Marketing & Management Associates for Nonprofits, a fourteen-year-old management consultancy that adapts and applies best practices from the for-profit sector for the benefit of non-profit clients. Dorothy works with regional and national foundations, arts commissions and arts councils, as well as cultural, educational, and human services organizations and museums. Foundations she had worked/is working with include the William Casper Graustein Memorial Fund, CT; Greater Worcester Community Foundation, MA; Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, CT; Nathan Cummings Foundation, NY; National Arts Stabilization, a Ford Foundation funded organization, MD; Southwestern Connecticut Community Foundation, CT; the Lloyd G. Balfour Foundation, MA, and Third Sector New England. Projects she had worked/is working on include strategic and business planning with expansion or right-sizing objectives; market feasibility studies; Board governance, leadership search and transitions; organizational assessment; audience development and communications research and planning, as well as the implementation of institutional strategy. She writes and speaks frequently on non-profit leadership, management and marketing issues, nationwide. She is the lead content presenter for the annual Institute for Cultural Entrepreneurship in Cooperstown, NY.
She is the recent past chair of the YWCA of Boston; recent past president of the New York Herald Tribune World Youth Forum Alumni Association and recent past co-chair of the WGBH Community Advisory Board. She was a member of the President's Advisory Council of Barnard College, and served on IdeasBoston Advisory Committee. She had also served on the boards of the Massachusetts Foundation for Humanities, the New England Museums Association, Fruitlands Museum, and The Bostonian Society.
Multi-cultural and multi-lingual, Dorothy speaks fluent Mandarin and Cantonese, French and English. Born in Chungking, China, she grew up in Penang and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, earned her MA and PhD in Oriental Art history from Columbia University and a MBA from Northeastern University. She is a long time resident of Harvard, MA where she resides with her Paris-born husband.


John G. Conley

John G. Conley is a Partner and co-founder of Gilliam Capital, a life-science investment firm in Concord, Massachusetts. He has spent several years in the biotechnology industry and is a Special Advisor to the investment banking firm of JSB Partners. He was Vice President of Business Development at Transkaryotic Therapies up until its acquisition by Shire Pharmaceuticals, and was a co-founder of the RNA interference therapeutics company Alnylam Pharmaceuticals where he held the position of Vice President, Strategy and Finance and CFO through to its successful 2004 IPO. Over ten years at Biogen Inc. (now Biogen-IDEC) he served in several marketing, business development, sales and finance positions, including Country Manager - United Kingdom and Ireland, and Treasurer. He was a Manager at the strategy consulting firm of Bain & Company. John graduated with a BS in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.


Fran Grigsby

Frances Grigsby is Founder and Managing Principal of Next Level International, a consulting firm that helps technology companies enter new markets. Next Level specializes in business development, M&A preparation and strategy. Before founding Next Level, Fran was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for GigaNet, a successful startup acquired by Emulex. She joined GigaNet as its fourth employee and helped deliver its first round of venture financing, corporate alliances and company launch. At Motorola, Fran was Vice President of Enterprise Networks, responsible for its switching and networking businesses. Earlier she held executive positions at Digital Equipment Corporation, including founding its wireless and cable modem businesses and expanding its industry-leading communications server business. She held senior positions in storage systems, field support and corporate logistics. Fran holds MBA and BA degrees from Vanderbilt University, and received an Executive Certificate at INSEAD Graduate School of Management, Fontainebleau, France. She serves on the Boards of the Massachusetts Network Communication Council, British American Business Council, United Cerebral Palsy.


Maia Heymann

Maia is an active investor and the Managing Director of DeVere Management Group, an investment firm she started in 2006 to invest in emerging companies. Maia has worked with dozens of start-ups and growth companies throughout her 20-year career as a venture capitalist and banker. She worked for BancBoston Ventures, Bank of America, FleetBoston Financial, and Bank of Boston, including 10 years based in Palo Alto, CA. From 2004 to 2008 Maia was a Managing Director at BancBoston Ventures, part of Bank of America's global private equity group. There she and her team managed a diverse $330 million portfolio of venture and private equity.
Maia joined BancBoston Ventures in 1999 and opened and managed BancBoston Ventures' Palo Alto, CA office from 1999 to 2002. Prior to that, Maia was a corporate banker based in Palo Alto, CA. She originated and structured corporate finance transactions for public and private technology companies. She also worked closely with 4 private equity firms to underwrite senior and sub-debt for leveraged buy-out transactions in the technology industry. From 1989 to 1992, Maia worked in the Audit department of Bank of Boston Corporation where she led risk-assessments at multiple lines of business in numerous domestic and international locations. Maia graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wellesley College and was elected into Phi Beta Kappa. She lives in Concord, MA with her husband and two sons. She currently sits on the boards of Apperian, CommonAngels, and The Jericho Road Project.


Ben James

Ben has provided growth capital to and worked with small privately-held companies for almost 25 years. He has committed in excess of $2 billion to more than 50 companies. Currently, he is co-founder and managing partner at Swift River Investments, a family investment firm providing growth capital to companies spanning a variety of different industries and at various points in their lifecycle. Prior to co-founding Swift River in 2005, Ben was one of four founding partners at North Castle Partners, a Greenwich, Connecticut-based private equity firm formed in 1998. In 1991, Ben co-founded the Private Investment Group at PPM America. With other senior members of the team, he built the firm's staff and private equity practice. Ben began his investment career in New York at Equitable Capital Management in 1987, after completing his MBA at Boston University. Between business school and graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ben worked as a merchant in the retail industry.


Richard Tinsley

Richard has been a partner at Putnam Associates for more than 12 years with over 21 years of strategy experience and 15 years dedicated to healthcare markets. Mr. Tinsley has expertise in pharmaceutical/biotech alliance management, portfolio prioritization, product pricing and payer strategy, physician/consumer growth strategy, promotional mix/spend optimization, organizational restructuring, and product lifecycle management. Prior to joining Putnam, he was Chief Operating Officer of a financial services company overseeing $3.6 billion in client assets. Richard also worked at Bain & Company. Richard holds an MBA from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business. He also has an MA degree in Education from Stanford University and a BS degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.


Philip vanderWilden

Philip has been the Co-Chair of the JRP Board since its formation, and an active member of First Parish since 1998. Philip is the Executive Director of the Crawford Idema Family Foundation, a charitable organization that focuses on enhancing opportunities for low-income and minority populations through its grant making. Prior to working with the Foundation, Philip worked for ten years as a project manager with the U.S. Department of Transportation in Boston and as a management consultant with Arthur Young and Arroyo Seco Associates in Los Angeles. The majority of that work was with public sector and non-profit agencies with a focus on organizational efficiency and effectiveness, program development, and strategic planning.
