The First Unitarian Church of Dallas is excited to expand our church’s support into the broader Dallas community through the launch of a Jericho Road site in the near future. Jericho Road Dallas (JRD) will match volunteers with the needs of community-based nonprofit organizations.
We have formed a strong leadership team and have interviewed over thirty nonprofit organizations in Dallas. All have confirmed the need for this program. In addition, more than 100 individuals have expressed their support as potential volunteers.
Having confirmed the need for Jericho Road services and anticipating a solid supply of professional talent, we have been raising the funds needed to launch. Our start-up fundraising drive has been a great success, thanks in large part to the First Unitarian Church of Dallas and the greater UU communities. We’ve received grants from the national UU Funding Panel and the North Texas Unitarian Universalist Congregations, and support from the First Church Endowment and Memorial Gifts Fund.
In May, our Senior Minister, Rev. Dr. Daniel Kanter completed a 2307 mile bicycle ride from Dallas to Concord, Massachusetts, raising well over $30,000 from donors across the country. www.ridetojericho.org.
We are working actively on our 501c3 application and establishing our by-laws and the infrastructure needed for this endeavor.
You're invited to be a part of this effort! You can reach us at Board@JerichoRoadDallas.org to learn more about volunteering or other ways to get involved.
Our vision is a just, compassionate, and united Dallas supported by dynamic volunteer-nonprofit partnerships. Together, we can promote community development, strengthen social services, and enrich one another’s lives.
