Our Volunteers

Jericho Road Project harnesses the professional expertise of strategic planners, lawyers, marketing experts, management and IT consultants, professional coaches, editors, Web and graphic designers, architects and many others, in order to meet the diverse needs of our nonprofit clients.

Our volunteers are employees of large corporations and small boutique consulting firms; they are usually employed but are also retired or between jobs. Some of our volunteers come to us through formal relationships we have with corporate partners. They all excel at what they do and enjoy and are good at working with other people.

A Jericho staff person personally interviews every prospective volunteer in a face to face meeting, getting to know them and beginning a “high touch” relationship that is a hallmark of the Jericho model. Our model includes careful and individualized matchmaking and project management for each volunteer-client collaboration as well as annual opportunities for volunteers to share and build upon each others experiences. These opportunities include an annual volunteer recognition event as well as outings to sporting events and small dinner meetings.

Our high-touch approach ensures that our volunteers are rewarded and volunteer again. A repeat volunteer is also one that knows our model and can “ramp up” quickly. 42% of Jericho’s 2008 volunteers were repeat volunteers.

The Jericho model focuses on a long-term, deep and holistic engagement with a relatively small group of volunteers and clients. Our volunteer community empowers, rewards and educates our volunteers, allowing us to build stronger clients and ultimately, healthier cities.

Quotes of note...

"I am committed to Jericho Road because it is a sterling example of marshalling one community's human resources to build the capacity and capabilities to meet human needs in another community . . . UTEC (United Teen Equality Center) is a great example of a group that is doing valuable work, has terrific leadership, and a wonderful plan to expand their effect in Lowell. I look forward to joining their board as a Jericho Road reporesentative."
